Stop 9 – Jodhpur
On the drive to Jodhpur we stopped at the Ranakpur Jain Temple built in the 15th century. It is is one of the largest and most important temples of Jain culture.
The following morning we had an early morning Jeep ride to the Bishnoi Villages. Then visited the Jaswant Thada a cluster of royal cenotaphs in white marble built in 1899 AD in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh-II. These are close to the 5-km long Mehrangarh Fort. This is one of the most impressive and formidable structures in Rajasthan. Within the fort are some magnificent palaces with meticulously carved panels, latticed windows called Jarokha. Later we visited the Clock Tower market and had a roof-top dinner with a view of the fort.
